Alex Ferguson book review by Leor

The book Alex Ferguson is about one of soccer’s most legendary coaches, and his life and experiences with soccer. Alex Ferguson managed to get the most amount of trophies as a manager and is regarded as one of the best soccer managers of all time. The book starts off with Alex Ferguson reflecting about moments in his career. Alex talks about what took place after he retired and reflects on the experience in the locker room after his last game. He talks about how in the locker room the players surprised him with gifts and how they would miss Alex after he retired. He also explains the significance of each gift that he got. The book then explains his career, starting from when he first joined Manchester United.  The book goes on about the different challenges Alex faced after joining Manchester united and talks about how he dealt with losses and how he dealt with the negativity from those losses, however he continued forward and went on to win the FA cup (a famous tournament in England). During his time at the club Alex talks about some of the best players he’s been with and about some of his rivals.

I think this book is amazing, because it talks about how to deal with defeat and how to keep going forward in life. There are multiple times where it seems like his situation can’t get worse and it feels like he won’t be able to recover and that it would be the end, but he keeps going and manages to make his situation work. I really enjoyed how he talked about players that have achieved a lot in soccer, and his experiences with them, because you get to see more, about what they were like outside of just watching them play on TV. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys soccer and wants to understand more about what happens in the game and behind the scenes. The book really illustrates a good picture about what life is like being a professional manager.

  1. Even though I do not play soccer, this book still sounds immensely interesting. Alex Ferguson's story sounds very inspirational. Following a coach who hit rock bottom and then rose to the top makes for a great autobiography. Great review!

  3. This seems like an interesting book as it isn't like your usual autobiography. The book seems like it gives insight into what it is like to be a manager of a famous team and what they think when their team wins or loses. Overall a great book review and a unique book!
