Messi, by Leonardo Faccio

Messi by Leonardo Faccio is a book about (in my opinion) the best player of all time. It goes over his life as a footballer, and although the book was published in 2012 it talks about Messi's career. I really enjoyed this book a lot because I want to know a lot about what makes Messi so good. To find this answer I looked into the book and it starts off by bringing me to his childhood in Argentina, where he would play football (soccer) for what seemed like forever. He would go with the ball everywhere he went, which was why he is so good at drilling nowadays. The book also mentions the difficulties he had while growing up with something called a growth hormone deficiency, which as the name implies means that he grew up short like really short, and had to take growth hormones. At the same time, he was diagnosed with this disease, Barcelona offered him a contract at their academy. In the beginning, Barcelona was a little skeptical to sign him due to his condition, but as we all know, they ended up paying for his medical treatment and invested in him. That investment paid off as he quickly rose to become one of Barcelona's best players at the time when he was only around 19. I think that this book was pretty good, I really enjoyed learning about Messi and his past and about how he developed as a player, and how he dealt with difficulty and adversity. Overall this book was great I highly recommend this to anyone who likes football (soccer) and wants to know about how Messi became Messi.

  1. I agree, Messi is the best soccer player of all time. I think books like this can be very interesting because it allows the reader to understand how somebody grew from nobody in a poor town into a household name. Overall, good post!

  2. Biographical books are something that I have not read a lot recently, so this might be something that could get me back into that genre. Good post!
